Phone-Free Feast was created by Gold Coast restaurateur Nick Vasilaras, shortly before he lost his battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a devastating form of brain cancer, in May.
“It’s about saving culinary culture and old fashioned manners, whilst raising much needed funds for brain cancer research,” says Beverley Trivett, founder of the John Trivett Foundation.
“Technology is great, but because of smartphones a lot of people sit down and don’t enjoy their food or company.” Irrespective of how much or how little you spend, 10% of your bill will go towards this very important fight against brain cancer.

The cause has the full support of 2012 ASP World Championship Tour Surfing Champion Joel Parkinson, who has personally seen the impact caused by brain cancer. “Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children aged under 15, accounting for one third of all cancer deaths in this age group,” Joel said.
“After witnessing firsthand the devastation that this disease brings to sufferers and their families, I am determined we need to find a cure,” he said.
Dr Charlie Teo, Founder of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation said we can use big ideas thinking as an inspiration to conquer brain cancer.
“If we can put a man on the moon within 10 years than we have the human ingenuity to dramatically improve brain cancer survival rates within 10 years,” Dr Teo said.
“We are on the brink of a research breakthrough, but research needs funding.
“Be part of this giant leap for man-kind.”
